ACTING CLASSES
At Chameleon Studio, we offer acting programs and workshops for the beginner to the professional actor for ages 18 and up.
We have:

Our acting classes are small, fun, challenging and very creative. Our acting classes include studies about Film and TV Audition training, Commercial Audition Training, Scene Study, Cold Reading, Improvisation, On-Camera Scene Study, Character Development and many other techniques designed to address the specific needs of the individual actor.
We also offer technical guidance on the business aspects of your acting career (Ex: Getting a talent agent, headshot referrals and more).

ACTING 101 – Beginner level
Instructor: Robin Douglas
8 weeks / 3 hours a night
Mon. Mar. 15 - May 3, 7:00 - 10:00 pm
This 8 week class is a MUST for the beginner actor! Comprehensive, exciting, fun and full of information is what this class is. Students learn a variety of performance skills required of all actors such as improvisation, character development, commercial techniques, scene study and more! Whether you’re taking acting to become an actor or because you thought it would be fun to try, you’ll soon discover acting is like nothing else you’ve ever done before. This program also includes a discussion on the technical aspects of the acting industry like how to get a talent agent, headshots, unions and more! The final week, all students can bring a friend to watch them perform a monologue or scene!
*Each student receives a detailed evaluation about their work specifying where their strengths and weaknesses are at this point. No other studio offers this for their students. We know that evaluations are an important tool for actors as they study and develop their craft.
INTERMEDIATE ACTING
Instructor: Robin Douglas
6 weeks / 2 hours a night
Mon. Jan. 11 – Mar. 1, 7:00 - 9:00 pm
This class is for those students who have completed a Beginner Acting Class and would like to continue their exploration of acting on a deeper level. Text analysis, characterization, improvisation and on-camera technique are covered in this 6-week course. Lots of fun and lots of info!
THE AUDITION WORKOUT
Instructor: Dolores Drake
5 weeks / 2.5 hours a night
Thurs. Jan. 14 – Feb. 11, 7:30 - 9:30pm
PREREQUISITE: All students must have taken a beginner or intermediate acting class or be a working actor and understand basic acting concepts and scene structure or obtain instructor approval.
ACTORS: BE READY FOR THOSE AUDITIONS! PREREQUISITE: All students must have taken a beginner or intermediate acting class or be a working actor and understand basic acting concepts and scene structure or obtain instructor approval. ACTORS: BE READY FOR THOSE AUDITIONS! The focus of this class will be on widening your range as an actor. Using Film and TV Scripts plus monologues, writing exercises, and techniques for connecting to your emotional life and imagination you’ll be led by a passionate and skilled teacher to bring the best you have to offer into the audition room. Using a Proven 10 Step Technique (hand out provided), that focuses on finding your uniqueness. You’ll be taught how to make the strongest choices, and really bring more of yourself to the work. Audition Passionately, Confidently, Professionally, and Successfully. All work will be filmed and feedback given. This class will include a visit by a Top Vancouver CASTIING DIRECTOR.

THE AUDITION PROCESS
Instructor: Robin Douglas - 4 weeks 2 hours every Monday. Jun. 7 - 28 - 7:30 - 9:30 pm
($170 per 4 wk session)

Robin will take you through the process from getting the call to come to an audition to getting the call that you've landed the job!
Gain self-confidence and learn how to avoid the self-defeating habits actors all too often impose on themselves.
ACCENT REDUCTION: MASTERING ENGLISH PRONUNCIATION
Instructor: Robin Douglas
6 weeks / 2 hours a night
Thurs. Apr. 1 – May. 6, 6:30 - 8:30pm
This essential course is for Actors and anyone else who needs strong communications in their personal or professional lives. This 6-week course is designed to help those individuals who feel that a heavy foreign accent is holding them back from achieving success in their professional goals. Both actors and non-actors have found this individually-geared program to be an invaluable next step after completing their ESL training.
This course works to retrain the articulator muscles in order to make the necessary changes in pronunciation. It also covers the intonation, inflection and rhythm of North American English, using a wide variety of materials which are chosen to meet the individual needs of each student.

- Making a DVD - Emailing Auditions
Some talent agents like to see new talent's work on tape, so they may request a DVD of a new actor performing two contrasting scenes or submitting demo to an email or ftp site. We can accomodate you through our new technical partnership with Astral Video. We recommend calling us to help you make the very best first impression with that talent agent. Class tapes are not a good representation of an actor's work.
If you need to put scenes on a DVD, , we can coach and tape for you. Emailing is handled through our technical parter Astral Video.
